A Gift to the Community
To help preserve the history of Republic County, Kansas and honor its veterans, this site is a gift to all communities in the county.

Project Concept
The concept for this website was created by Gage Alstatt, Republic County HS Class of '22, as his senior project. The starting point was a binder of typed and hand-written notes about veterans in Belleville Cemetery originally compiled by Al Upoff who had donated it to the Republic Co. courthouse as a historical archive. Gage transcribed these notes into a database format which could then be imported into a web server. A search function was developed to help website visitors find veterans according to various categories, such as branch and conflict, along with the location of their burial plots at the cemetery. Those killed in action are denoted by the Gold Star. Ultimately, the goal is to include veterans at every cemetery in Republic County so that we can honor them all.
